How to Make a Cockroach Trap?

Professional cockroach traps can be purchased relatively inexpensively, but if you would prefer to make your own homemade cockroach trap, it can be done quite easily.

You will need an empty bottle or jar with a wide mouth such as a pickle or mayonnaise jar, some boric acid roach powder, and granular sugar.

If you have some Vaseline in your home, use it to coat the inside of the jar in order to make it more slippery so that the cockroaches can’t escape, but the trap will work well even if you don’t have any.

In the bottom of the jar, place about a half-inch of 50% boric acid powder and 50% sugar that has been mixed together. You may add water or even beer to the mix, as stale beer is a strong attractant to roaches.

Next, put the jar in a location that is frequented by cockroaches, such as under the kitchen sink.

Place a few sticks or pieces of wood on the ground next to the jar and then lean them over the top or mouth of the jar, so that the cockroaches can climb up this ladder and fall into the trap.

When the cockroaches fall into the jar, they will be unable to escape, and if you have placed liquid in the bottom of the jar it will drown them.
