How Do Cockroaches Mate and Reproduce?

In order to mate, a male cockroach detects the presence of a female cockroach by the pheromones that she emits.

The male roach ejects a sticky and stinky chemical onto the abdomen of his body that is attractive to the female, and when she touches it she becomes stuck to him.

The female roach then drags the male around for a while, but they eventually mate by pressing their genitalia together while facing away from each other in opposite directions.

For some species of cockroach, the female only needs to mate once-in-a-lifetime, and this is enough to allow her to reproduce up to 300 offspring over the next year or so.

Each egg casing contains about 30 eggs and she can lay a new egg casing every one to two months.
