Can a Vet Get Rid of Fleas?

Sure, a veterinarian can get rid of fleas on your dog or cat, but you can probably get the job done yourself, too.

The first thing that a veterinarian will do is get your dog on a flea prevention medication. Most vets prefer to use either Frontline are Advantage over other brands of flea medicine.

The medicine will take 12 to 24 hours to start working, but once it does it will kill any adult fleas that come in contact with the animal very quickly.

The veterinarian will probably also have one of his assistants give the dog or cat a flea bath using a quality flea shampoo.

This will kill any adult fleas currently on the animal, as well as wash away any flea eggs or larvae that may be hidden in the animal’s coat.
