There are several things that you can do to prevent mosquitoes from biting you, thus eliminating the itchy red bumps that we all hate.
First, understand that mosquitoes are most active during dawn and dusk, so those are the times that you need to be most vigilant with your mosquito prevention measures.
There are a number of mosquito repellent that you can apply directly to your skin, some all-natural and some chemically manufactured. Certain all-natural oils are excellent mosquito repellents and they can be diluted with water and spray directly onto people and pets for mosquito prevention. Tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil are both excellent mosquito repellents.
The most famous commercial brand of mosquito repellent is Deet, which was originally developed by the military for use in tropical locations such as Vietnam, that are notorious for mosquitoes. It comes in different concentrations, with the higher concentrations giving up to 24 hours of mosquito protection.
Also, make sure that your skin is covered when you go outside, especially during dawn and dusk, by wearing a light jacket or a longsleeved shirt. Mosquitoes are notorious for biting feet and ankles, especially, so make sure that these areas of the body are covered by shoes, socks, or stockings.
In addition, be aware that mosquitoes are attracted to chemicals present in perspiration, so a clean body that has been washed of perspiration is less likely to be bitten by mosquitoes.
