Flea larva, sometimes called grubs, are milky white or sometimes clear colored. The flea enters the larval stage after it emerges from the egg, which is usually laid directly on the skin of a host.
Flea larva are essentially blind, and are forced to feed on whatever organic material they can find nearby. This often includes the dried feces of adult fleas.
The larval stage lasts approximately 2 weeks during which time the larvae molts three times. It then enters the pupa stage, when it weaves a silken like cocoon around its body and patiently waits in preparation for a suitable host to become available.
