You don’t have to worry about fleas becoming immune to Frontline flea medication over time. The product contains a powerful insecticide that no species of flea has immunity to.
It may appear as though the product is not working sometimes, however, because your pet acts as a kind of flea vacuum that attracts all the fleas in its area.
In fact, adult fleas that you can see comprise only 5% of the entire flea population. The rest are flea eggs and flea larva that lay hidden in the carpeting, furniture, and other areas waiting for a host to present itself.
The flea pupa are encased in a cocoon and they will quickly emerge when they detect the presence of a host by either body heat or carbon dioxide from their breath.
They will then launch themselves on the cat or dog and attempt to feed, but should be quickly killed within 12 hours by the Frontline flea medication.
It may take a few months before the entire flea population is brought under control and when you will stop finding adult fleas on your pet.
