How Much Does Avocado Oil Cost?

The cost of a good quality extra-virgin avocado oil is similar to the price of a comparable olive oil, maybe just a bit more but not much. $7-$13 per liter would be an average standard price, although it will obviously vary according to your locality and the retail store you are shopping in.

Although the prices are similar, you will find avocado oil more difficult to find at a local retailer. Many grocery stores do not stock it at all, and those that do often times have a limited selection. You will have best luck if you live in a metropolis that has specialty stores catering to such items.

For convenience sake, sometimes it is better to order avocado oil online, and I do this sometimes myself. But I really recommend purchasing the oil locally if possible, because vegetable oils can turn rancid quickly if they are not kept at room temperature and away from sunlight. Some consumers report that their avocado oil does not taste as fresh when ordered online, although it is hit or miss.

If you have never tried avocado oil before, I encourage you to do so. It’s flavor is different from olive oil, more robust and nutty, while still retaining the high mono unsaturated fat and nutrient profile. It is also better for cooking and frying, as avocado oil has a high smoke point of nearly 500°F.
