Fleas love to hide in the carpeting because they can attach themselves to the carpet fibers and it is easy for them to hide there, similar to the hair of a cat or dog.
Even if you don’t have any pets, you can still have a flea infestation in your carpeting because flea pupa can live for months without food or water while they are encased in their cocoon, and they can be very difficult to see with the naked eye.
In order to treat the infestation, there are a couple of things that you should do. First, I recommend spreading a powdered pesticide such as diatomaceous earth onto your carpeting.
Diatomaceous earth is 100% natural and will not harm any pets or humans that come in contact with it. It will kill all stages of the flea life cycle from eggs to adult fleas.
You will also want to vacuum the carpet regularly in order to collect any fleas. It is also a good idea to put the vacuum bag inside a plastic bag and place it in the freezer for a couple of hours, which will kill any fleas are flea eggs.
