Diatomaceous earth is a naturally occurring substance derived from fossils in the earth that is ground to a fine powder. It is composed of approximately 1% silica which acts as a dehydrating agent to fleas and is also able to destroy a fleas exoskeleton.
Diatomaceous earth powder can be topically applied directly to your cat or dog’s skin and can also be spread through the house in places such as carpeting and furniture, to give further protection from fleas.
It poses a lesser health danger from being ingested and many other natural remedies for fleas.
