When a flea bites a human, the enzymes injected into the person’s skin usually cause an allergic reaction which manifest as a raised red bump with a puncture wound in the center, similar to a mosquito bite.
Some people are more allergic to flea bites than others, so the reaction can vary. Certain people may be highly allergic and will develop a severe rash, while other people may hardly be bothered by a flea bite.
There are several things you can do to help alleviate the itching, swelling, and inflammation of a flea bite.
First, you may apply a topical hydro-cortisone cream, which is available over the counter, in order to reduce swelling and inflammation.
In addition, calamine lotion works great to reduce the itching caused by flea bites.
