First aid for flea bites involves the application of topical creams and medications that will reduce the inflammation, swelling, and itching so often associated with them.
Rub 1% hydrocortisone cream on the bites and surrounding skin areas. This will decrease inflammation and reduce the risk of rash developing.
Next, apply calamine or aloe vera lotion to the bites in order to decrease itchiness and burning sensation.
You may then wish to cover the bites with gauze in order to keep the topical medication place, as well as protecting them from scratches and infection.
Be sure to resist the urge to scratch the bites, because that can lead to broken skin and bleeding which can then lead to infection.
The bites should be left undisturbed and allowed to heal which takes place in a matter of days in normal circumstances.
