You may use other products such as flea sprays and powders in conjunction with Frontline, but it isn’t really necessary to use any other type of pesticide directly on the animal after he has been treated with Frontline because that product is nearly 100% effective on its own.
But you may want to use a flea spray to treat the furniture and bedding of your pet, or sprinkle a flea powder into the carpeting of your home because these products will kill the flea eggs, larvae, and pupa that are still present and hiding in your home.
Frontline will take care of killing all the adult fleas that jump on your pet, but unfortunately the adult fleas only comprise about 5% of the entire flea population. The rest are immature fleas that are yet to hatch and develop into adults.
As these young fleas grow into adults, your pet will act as a sort of vacuum cleaner by attracting them and killing them, but it can take several weeks or even a couple of months to kill the entire flea population.
Using flea spray and other products can speed up the time frame by killing these younger fleas before they have a chance to grow into adults, and that is where they are most useful.
