If your dog or cat is being eaten alive by fleas and you don’t have any flea shampoo on hand, you may use a little bit of dish soap such as Dawn liquid detergent mixed in with the bathwater to kill fleas.
It is not the best choice, but dish soap does kill fleas on contact and it is fairly effective. It can be harsh on in animals skin and especially its eyes if it gets inside, so be careful when giving a bath mixture.
