How Do Mosquitoes Defend Themselves?

Mosquitoes utilize stealth as their primary means of defense.

Their small size and ability to maneuver almost silently allows them to go about their business undetected by other animals.

Biting a host in order to obtain blood is a very dangerous activity, and often results in mortality for the mosquito if it is detected by the host.

Other than their stealth, mosquitoes do not have well-developed defense mechanisms for predators, and that is one of the reasons why mosquitoes have a very high mortality rate, even for insects.
