Yes, flea eggs can live on clothes and other material and may be spread from place to place in that manner.
Flea eggs are usually laid directly on the host, which normally means an animal or pet in the household. When that animal brushes up against the clothes of his master, flea eggs and pupa can be transferred from the animal skin.
Flea eggs take about a week to 10 days to hatch into larvae which will then seek out the closest available food source, which can be any organic material including flea feces. Flea pupa can remain dormant on clothes or other material for months or weeks.
In order to kill fleas and flea eggs that may be lodged in clothes fibers, wash the clothes in hot water and use a strong detergent and bleach, if possible. Also, throw the clothes in the dryer at high temperature and dry them thoroughly.
This is usually sufficient to kill any fleas or flea eggs on clothes.
